Over the past recent years, South Korea has received an increasing number of foreign residents, reaching 2.5 million according to 2019 statistics. However, many foreigners still face challenges in their everyday life in Korea where problems may arise from language barriers, cultural differences, and lack of information and services.
WEGOOKIN is a site to facilitate foreigners living in Korea by providing information and tips fit for foreigners' situations. WEGOOKIN resembles the pronunciation of '외국인' which means foreigner and can be literally translated as 'person from an outside land'. Instead of pronouncing 외 (= outside) as 'way' or 'wae', we twisted the pronunciation to 'we' as to emphasize the notion of inclusivity.
With our creative content, we hope to bridge information gap between what locals and foreigners can access; and help foreigners have a more convenient life in Korea.
